Composite filling
Tooth-coloured fillings on posterior or anterior teeth.
Modern composite fillings bonded to the tooth structure. We use 3M Filtek Universal and Kerr Harmonize as our stock composites — both are nano-hybrid and hold up well to Pakistani tea-and-paan dietary realities. We have not placed an amalgam filling since 2020.
You can eat and drink normally as soon as the local anaesthetic wears off (usually 1–2 hours). Be careful not to bite your cheek or tongue while numb.
Mild sensitivity to cold for a few days is normal. Persistent sensitivity beyond 2 weeks means the bite needs checking — book a short review visit.
Brush and floss normally. Composite is rated for 10–15 years on posterior teeth if maintained; anterior cosmetic composites may need a polish every 2–3 years.
- Sharp pain on biting, especially if the tooth feels "high" (bite adjustment needed)
- Persistent sensitivity past 2 weeks
