Simple extraction

Local anaesthetic. Typically a 30-minute visit.

What this involves

Straightforward extraction of a fully-erupted tooth under local anaesthetic. Recovery is usually uneventful — we will provide written post-extraction instructions and a same-day WhatsApp message with a photo of how the socket should look vs. should-call-back.

Aftercare
After a simple extraction

For the first 30 minutes after the extraction, bite firmly on the gauze. Do not spit, do not rinse, do not smoke.

For the next 24 hours: avoid hot food and hot drinks. Eat on the opposite side. No drinking through a straw, no vigorous mouthwash, no spitting. Sleep with your head slightly elevated (two pillows).

From day 2: rinse gently with warm salty water (half teaspoon salt in a glass of lukewarm water) three times a day after meals. Brush normally elsewhere. Return to normal eating as comfortable.

Full soft-tissue healing takes 1–2 weeks. The bone underneath takes 6–8 weeks to fully fill.

Paracetamol 500mg every 6 hours is usually enough pain relief. Avoid aspirin (thins the clot). We will prescribe antibiotics only if there was pre-existing infection — not routinely.
