All-ceramic crown
Metal-free, biocompatible, excellent aesthetics.
A zirconia-core crown with porcelain layering, which is our default restoration for post-RCT molars and for any front-tooth crown. We no longer place PFM (porcelain-fused-to-metal) crowns on anterior teeth — the grey line at the gum is hard to defend aesthetically now that zirconia prices have come down. Milled at Ruby Smile Lab in Lahore.
Avoid sticky food for 24 hours after the crown is bonded.
Mild sensitivity to cold for 1–2 weeks is normal, especially on a post-RCT tooth that was previously sensitive. If sensitivity is persistent or worsening, we need to check the bite.
Brush and floss normally. Use interdental brushes around the crown margin.
Crowns typically last 15–25 years with good maintenance. The most common failure mode is decay on the tooth underneath — usually at the gum margin — which is why flossing is essential.
